So, as many of you know - I have taken up Motorcycling. This makes some of you excited and others of you fearful. All for good reason. :) Well, after a rough start to my riding season - yesterday I offically kicked it off with a short 40 mile solo ride. And this is how I got there:
My Scoot (AKA: 2008 Harley Sportster 1200cc Low w/ Custom Paint) has had me rather intimidated the past few months - wouldn't you be with an AKA like that? lol. Anyway I'm attributing my fear to cabin fever - thats my story and I'm stickin to it. I took her to work a couple of weeks ago on a test run. As I was putting her away she dumped me off, just like any bronco. Right..into..a tree (more like a trub)...but it was ass first. OWWW.
Damage to bike, minimal. (Yes Brad, I'm glad you told me to get engine guards...)
Damage to nikkers, also minimal - a bruise from hip to knee.
Damage to my self-esteem - NONE! I straight squat-lifted that bugger right back up! 590 lbs!:)
My DH had a solution to my bronco problem - Lower the low bike. Brilliant! So we did 2 whole inches! New snazzy blacked out shocks and my feet are now firmly on the ground. He also dispelled my fears that Scoot was BIGGER than my starter bike (a trusty Suzuki Savage 650) by measuring them! Why didn't I think of that?? Turns out Scoot is exactly 2 inches longer than the Suzuki and lowered is exactly the same in every other dimension as the "little"bike. All I have to learn now is how to handle an extra 550cc engine. Not real hard actually - don't! There is potential on my little sporty scoot that I hope I never have to tap.
So, time to ride.
