Last Sunday, DH and I went on our first official HOG ride. HOG is the Harley Owners Group and while we have owned our bikes for over a year we hadn't joined the local group until recently... Recently, being when DH pointed out to me that we really don't know a lot of people around here and needed to find people with like interests to get to know. Right....ask the hermit with social anxiety to go find friends....right.

Social anxiety aside, I signed us up, because I absolutely love group riding. Also, I really don't have to interact with people when we are actually riding and Brad can be social during the breaks. I figure it's a good trade off. So, we went to the Northern Utah HOG (NUHOG) Sunday ride. That morning, I wasn't feeling up for whatever ride they might throw at us, and didn't want to get into a ride above my skill level or lack of brain function for the day. So, I just BOB'ed along with DH. (BOB - Babe on Back, also B**ch on Back, depending on mood :))
It was a fun ride we were a group of about 30 and went nearly 250 Miles - up to Bear Lake through Southern Idaho - Much of the same route that we took for our Lava Hot Springs adventure the week before - sans pouring rain. There is something amazing about riding in a larger group - it moves like a flock of birds, like one organism - all of us following a single leader. Its an exhilarating feeling -the freedom of your own position on the road and your own (or in this case DH's) machine...but as sense of a larger whole as well. Throw in the scenery and the sensation is downright spiritual.
