Squiggles are good!

After 8 weeks off the bikes, DH and I were ITCHING to ride. We have pretty much lost the whole summer to Rain and Construction! icky!

So yesterday, we decided to blow of cleaning the house and went on a short ride (130 miles round trip) to Park City for lunch (mmm Kobe beef hamburgers!) We decided to take a road that we have been on at either end, but had not been all the way through. What we found was that squiggles are good! Actually Bradley knew this in general - but did not know HOW squiggly this road was until we were on it. I however was under the impression that the few 15MPH blind curves near East Canyon State Park were all I had to worry about on this ride. BOY was I in for a surprise! As we climbed and climbed into alpine air, I realized at some point I'd have to go back down. I'd come out for a challenging ride so I enjoyed it. Had I known I was going down Emigration Canyon (aka NOT a beginner ride) after such a long break from the bike I would have thought twice. However, I was told it did quite well and I made it around four 20MPH switchbacks so I'm excited.

Here is our route: see the squiggles...those are good :) (sorry you have to click the link - google maps won't highlight the right route so I'm using the MSN version)

In all, I met 3 goals on this ride: Make it to Park City on the bike, make it up East Canyon, and make it up and down Emigration Canyon. check check check. I also made my goal to get to Coalville on the bike, which technically should have come before Park City, since it's a shorter distance home. But, we were going the other direction so it came after.
